Tell us a little bit about the wedding you’re planning; What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
We wanted to keep it simple but elegant. I always loved the idea of using a charcoal grey with a beautiful, rich plum accent.
Has your vision for your wedding changed or evolved over the course of your engagement? If so, how?
Our wedding day decor came out exactly how we wanted it!
What unique element did you have at your wedding?
During our cocktail reception, we did a version of a photo booth but guests were asked to write the Bride and Groom messages of advice or well wishes. Some of the messages were really funny to see afterwards when we received our photos!
Did you DIYing any of your details?
With the help of my talented matron of honour, we designed all of our wedding collateral to match my chosen invitations. We made everything from welcome signs, menu cards, thank you cards, table signs, drinks tickets, and more!
What part of the wedding were you most looking forward to? Did it live up to the dream?
The reception! The Groom’s father is a lifelong musician and his band performed for the party. It was so amazing!
What was the ONE MUST HAVE item/detail/service that you would recommend to each and every bride-to-be that would meet?
A great decorator like Larissa! Bridal Beginnings was so accommodating and accessible. One of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding was hiring Bridal Beginnings!
What was your favourite thing / special moment about your wedding?
A special moment for us was the lighting of a memorial candle for my sister who has passed away shortly before I met Aaron. It was important to me to honour her and acknowledge her presence over us.
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
All of my amazing brides matrons, all having been in my shoes before, made the day so special and easy for me. Our families were incredibly supportive and both of us felt completely at ease on our wedding day!
Why did you pick your ceremony and reception venues? What do you love most about each space?
We wanted a one-stop venue so that our guests would not have to drive from place to place. Our venue had it all; a lovely indoor ceremony option, beautiful outdoor space for photos, and a reception space that provided the modern, simple and elegant feel we wanted for our decor.
Tell us about planning with your fiancé. Has it gone smoothly? Is he more involved, or hands-off?
My fiance was very easy-going about the entire process and he was mostly hands-off with the exception of the key decisions; date, venue, colours, photographer, etc. I was very organized and we had most of the elements of our day arranged in advance. We probably could have gotten married two months earlier!
What was one quirky or crazy thing that happened on your wedding day?
By the time we were ready for photos, it had begun to rain. At first I was upset about it, but our photographer had these cute clear umbrellas and our photos turned out to be amazing! I am so happy it rained!
What wedding-related decision have you been the most indecisive on?
Oddly enough, the invitations! There were so many designs and options to choose from, it took forever!
If you had to pick three top priorities for your budget, what would they be and why?
Food, decor and entertainment. People remember the food, the flowers and the music!
What big changes/additions have you made as a family since saying “We Do”
We are currently expecting our first child, due June 5th! We knew we wanted to start a family right away and we are just so excited for this next step.
Wishing you both many blessing on your first anniversary of saying “We Do!!” … many the next 365 days be as exciting as your first 365 days!
